Open Water Swimming - Confidence Builder Anxiety Controller
Afraid of the Deep? Not sure of what's lurking below? Anxious to put your feet down?
Well, guess what, it's normal! It's instinct protecting you from your unknowns.
It originates from humans having an almost natural fear of the dark and dark places. Therefore, as sunlight doesn't penetrate very far below the surface of most bodies of water, it makes them appear dark. And, when we see deep dark places, our fear takes over before rational thought. Our mind tells us there things are down in the deep darkness and we shouldn't be there.
In severe cases, it can be recognised as Thalassophobia, and intense fear of the sea and of being in deep bodies of water, fear of the vast emptiness of the sea, of sea waves, of sea creatures and fear of distance from land.
We can help you to calm that anxiety and rationalise the thoughts and feelings with a session or a number of sessions designed to help create coping mechanisms and re-focussing.
We choose safe, calm areas of water in which to deliver this type of session and can provide progressive exposure to the elements, rationalising and coping with each as we progress.
This session aims to capture your enthusiasm and interest in Open Water swimming, whilst helping you learn to manage your confidence and anxiety.
Primarily we run these sessions in a beautiful Snowdonia lake where the water is safe to swim. We have also run these sessions in the sea and in a river too.
If you would like more information, or want to ask some questions, feel free to contact us or even call us to chat about your Open Water Swimming concerns, and we will do our best to help.
Our aim is to help you enjoy the pleasure of Open Water Swimming.
The session will be per hour.
