Foundation Instructor Award
This is the first step to working as a Stand Up Paddle instructor. This two day course will introduce the novice instructor to teaching and communication skills, lesson planning, feedback and analysis skills and group and individual client management. Candidates should be able to confidently perform the following manoeuvres. The course is both dry and wet in content and is a practical and theoretical course. In order to register for the courses you will need to be a member of Water Skills Academy, which can be done on their website: www.waterskillsacademy.com via this link https://wsa.tahdah.me/account/registernew The membership is £60 The course fee of £220. It is a pre-requisite before your future assessment that you have attended the SUP safety and rescue award, which we always run the day prior to this course at the same venue. You must bring your own board, paddle and leash and any equipment you use for teaching and rescues if you have it. If you do not have your own, let us know in advance and we can arrange a hire set for you. |

Adventure Guide Award
The Adventure Guide is a leadership award that will equip you to coach, lead or guide in open and moving water environments. You will gain knowledge suitable for the remit of the award, safety and leadership strategies. Prior to attending this course you must have attended the WSA Foundation course and the WSA SUP Safety and Rescue course. The WSA Adventure Guide Training Course will be run on a number of different water venues to maximise the Adventure remit of the award. There will be a consideration of the kit and equipment relevant to the leader and the group in their charge as well the capabiltiies of groups and what can be achieved whilst maintaining the safety framework and for all the paddlers.
