World Wide Sea Kayak Trips and Expeditions
Lofoten August 2021 - Details coming soon
Come and join AcwaTerra as we explore the Arctic Archipelago of Lofoten, magical, wild, rugged and beautiful, and nestled inside the Arctric Circle.
Accommodation:
A little bit of Norwegian comfort in a traditional house, decorated in a simple, yet pleasant manner. Following a day of exploring the wilds, the nature and engaging your body, this accommodation will hopefully go a long way to providing even more of a memorable trip and allow you to be ready for the following day.
We will utilise the homely feel to our full advantage and plan day trips out to islands, along fjords and visit remote stretches of coastline and sandy beaches that will satiate your desire for adventure and exploration. Paddle in the full knowledge that you can return at the end of the day and recharge in readiness for the next with a hot shower, a comfy and restful bed, and outstanding mountain and sea views all around.
Accommodation will be shared by the group and self catering, on a group cook ethic, will be the order of the week. Hopefully, we can all help out with this aspect of the communal week’s living.
What is included:
What is not included:
Dates:
7-14th August 2021 - for the developing sea paddler who wants the enjoyment of paddling up to 12-15 miles/20-25km a day, but who wants to enjoy the comforts of a shower and a roof over their head at night.
The Paddling:
Matching team aspirations, weather conditions and the flexibility to travel from our base in Vestpollen, we can tailor each of the 6 days on the water to make the best of what nature’s opportunities provide.
We will utilise the maps, charts, guidebooks and knowledge to visit some incredible places such as the north coast, where nature reserves will provide plenty of photography opportunities, the remote south where fishing villages abound, or the inside passages where steep sided fjords have you paddling in awe. Gimsoya, Henningsvaer, Straumnes and Trollfjorden to name but a few of the possibilities.
We will provide you with a sea kayak, spray-deck and paddle. We will supply the safety equipment and you’ll be accompanied by a British Canoeing Level 5 Coach with a sense of adventure and experience on 5 continents.
The weather can be wet and windy in the Lofoten Isles at any time of the year. The Norwegians have a saying “There is no such thing as bad weather. Just the wrong clothing”. For the past couple of years, the locals have reported everything from 8 degrees to 25 degrees, with heavy rain to very sunny and warm, sometimes on the same day. The water temperature can be around 8 degrees.
The fishing is prolific, so if you fancy bringing some simple fishing kit along, please feel free to do so. Trawling a small and simple line whilst paddling is ok, however, we won’t be spending hours sitting in the same place waiting for ‘Billy the Big Bass’.
We aim to spend the time sea kayak touring and don’t intend to spend any time in the water undertaking capsizes and rescues, unless the group wish to practice these specifically. The BC Sea Kayak Award is a standard of a paddler being a competent member of a group. This award can be undertaken as part of the trip if you wish and depending on experience, there might be the opportunity to undertake the Sea Kayak Coastal Award as well.
We have 6 days available for paddling and you can choose to partake in all 6 or have a day off, or as many as you like, for sightseeing. The trip is yours.
Price: £1000 per person
